Introduction :
The Vocational Unit of Dantan Manav Kalyan Kendra (DMKK) plays a pivotal role in empowering Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and marginalized individuals through skill development and income-generating opportunities. Rooted in the mission of inclusion and self-reliance, this unit complements DMKK’s broader vision of holistic development and social justice.




Objectives

To equip Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and underprivileged youth with practical, marketable skills.
- To foster independence, confidence, and economic empowerment.
- To promote inclusive employment opportunities through vocational education.
- To provide therapeutic value through creative engagement.
- Target Groups – Children with Special Needs (CWSN)
Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) including Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and Intellectual Disabilities
Courses and Activities Offered :
The Vocational Unit offers a diverse range of skill-based training programs tailored to the abilities and interests of the participants. These include:
- Handicrafts and Decorative Items Making
- Candle Making
- Jewelry Making (beads, thread work)
- Rakhi and Diya Crafting (seasonal)
Each activity is supervised by trained instructors and special educators, with adaptations made for participants’ physical and cognitive needs.
Success Stories :
Many trainees of the Vocational Unit have shown remarkable progress. Some have gone on to start small businesses, while others have been placed in local enterprises. These stories serve as inspiration for families and the community, challenging stereotypes around disability and capacity.
