Dantan Manav Kalyan Kendra (DMKK), formerly known as Dantan Human Seba Kendra, was established in 2002 by a group of dynamic youths from Dantan-I block. Their mission was to promote human welfare and social development, particularly for underprivileged individuals, including children, women, and neglected populations.

The organization decided to seek registration with the Registrar of Societies, Farms & Non-Trading Corporation in Kolkata. After applying for registration in April 2002, it received official registration on 22nd May 2002. It is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI of 1961.

Mission and Vision of DMKK:

Mission:

To aim positive and harmonious behavioural change at organizational and community level that help to eradicate poverty & nurture sustainable development and to empower women with the aim to make them self- reliant and independent.

Vision:

The organization envisions the establishment of an egalitarian society devoid of any kind of discrimination and exploitation based on caste, class, gender, race or religion; a society that would permit the collective flowering of human potential for human ends.

Key Thematic areas of DMKK:

  1. Community Development: The organization aims to develop communities by encouraging local residents to implement sustainable projects. These projects focus on areas such as education, health, culture, and infrastructure development.
  2. Holistic Development: Since its inception in 2002, DMKK has been committed to fulfilling the needs and expectations of people, especially those living in challenging circumstances. Their holistic approach addresses various aspects of well-being.
  3. Awareness and Advocacy: Initially, the organization concentrated on raising awareness about different issues and promoting rights-based activities. Over time, they expanded their efforts to create a sustainable environment.

  • Health: Ensuring access to healthcare services.
  • Livelihood: Handholding support to deprived community to come out from vicious cycle of poverty.
  • Culture: Promoting cultural enrichment.
  • Infrastructure: Creating necessary infrastructure for sustainable development.
  • Behavioural Change: Concentrating on fostering positive mindsets among children, women, and marginalized individuals.

Our Approach:

All our work weaves a common approach of wisdom, care and making a difference. We attempt at bringing forth the issues of common concern to the forefront arid seek action from various stakeholders. We believe that if change has to happen, it needs participation from all the four pillars: the state, civil society, media and the people. All these four being our target areas, our efforts are educational, participatory, collaborative and positively engaging.
